Written by Brian Phelps, Ohio Miami Valley Conference 2007 High School Coach of the Year & Southwest Ohio Baseball League AABC 13U Competitive Youth Baseball Coach

The Complete Season is an e-book Written for Anyone Involved in Planning, Organizing, or Coaching a Youth or Little League Baseball Team.

Loaded with little league baseball coaching & little league baseball instruction tips, the ebook is written as a how-to for everything related to youth baseball coaching. The baseball book offers tips helping you through each step of the season from the moment you get asked (or volunteer) to coach the team, through team selection, conducting a positive parent’s meeting, organizing the team for indoor and outdoor practice, holding a scrimmage game to check out your team’s talent, taking infield practice before your games, game strategies that are fundamentally sound, conducting the post game talk with the players - all the way to holding a successful end of the year party.

The book will assure that you are armed with the latest in baseball coaching and baseball instruction. Emphasis has been placed on the coaching skill required in little league baseball coaching but more difficult drills are also available to help with any level of youth baseball coaching. We believe there is no more complete youth baseball coaching & baseball drill book available. We find this book is often purchased by little league baseball coaches and youth coaches of all ages, but we are pleasantly surprised at how many books are purchased by a team parent and then shared with the coaching staff.

As baseball coaches for youth, competitive summer teams and high school teams, Brian has a collective knowledge about the best way to manage a team from the time practice starts to the time the team disbands for the year.

A Chapter by Chapter breakout from this baseball book is provided for your review:

Chapter 1 – Congratulations - You are the coach of a youth baseball team!

This chapter discusses the joys and fears of every coach when they realize they have taken on a responsibility that they may feel inadequate to do at that moment…relax and take it easy – this ebook has all the tools you will need to allow for everyone from players to parents and fellow coaches to ask to come back to play again next year, which is the greatest honor a youth coach can receive.

Chapter 2 – Preparation

No good season starts without preparation. We have itemized everything you will need to do in order to prepare for the upcoming season. Just follow the checklist and be confident that the details are being handled.

Chapter 3 – The Tryout

How you present yourself, your coaching concepts, the existing players and even the parents can determine if you get to keep the great athlete who showed up at your tryout – doing it the right way is important. This chapter focuses on how to conduct the tryout, how to evaluate the talent and how to let athletes and parents know who made the team in a way that makes them want to come back next year to try again.

For coaches who coach recreational teams where the players are assigned, the tryout chapter gives you a great tool for player evaluations during the first couple of practices to help determine skill areas the individuals and team needs to improve upon during the course of the season.

Chapter 4 – The First Meetings

It is true about making a solid first impression, especially when dealing with parents of a baseball team. This meeting outline will be sure that you are confident and prepared to let the team parents and players know what to expect for the upcoming season. The parents and players will leave the meeting feeling great about you as the coach.

Chapter 5 – Indoor Practice

Indoor practices can be tricky in order to make the best use of the smaller facilities and push your team beyond simply taking batting practice. Learn some terrific indoor drills and techniques you can use to help your team be prepared when the weather changes and you are ready to move outdoors. Coaches give feedback to us that they are able to not only conduct the drills from this chapter easily to teach the right level of baseball instruction, but they use the drills to teach the baseball fundamentals they want their team to use when they go outside. It gives them a great head start.

Chapter 6 - Outdoor Practice

How to organize an effective outdoor practice, getting your main teaching opportunities, the players individual skill development, and some solid team building into each of the practices you conduct. This chapter is important because it focuses on the importance of keeping a team constantly moving during the practice sessions. You will be amazed at how easy it is to plan your practices and how much you can get accomplished in a short amount of time.

This chapter also ties in with the overall strategy for your team as you evaluate the team at the beginning of the season and determine the areas for improvement. Practice plans should be developed while reviewing the scouting data from the beginning of the season so that you can feel good about what your team and your players have been able to accomplish as the season progresses.

Chapter 7 – Scrimmage Game

This important chapter tells you how to make the most from your opportunity to play practice games. Setting the tone for the season at practice games is important. The players and parents will know what to expect of you and what you expect from them from day one. Allowing players to play multiple positions during a game to see where they might fit best is also discussed. Teaching sportsmanship while having fun during the game is another important concept discussed in this chapter.

Chapter 8 – Pre-Game Warm-ups

Every baseball team knows when they are playing a high caliber opponent by watching the way that a team warms up before a game. We have developed a structured process from the time the players arrive at the ballpark to get them ready to play baseball. From stretching to taking batting, infield and outfield practice, your team will look crisp and present an intangible factor that will tell opponents that your team is well managed and fundamentally sound.

Chapter 9 – Managing the Game

Managing a youth baseball game can be challenging if you do not have a solid game plan in mind prior to the start of the game. The pre-season will set the foundation for your game strategy. This chapter focuses on managing and communicating with your team between innings, when to approach an umpire, reacting to errors and bad plays and finally, how to substitute to be sure that players all have an opportunity to contribute to the outcome of the game.

The chapter concludes with how to have a successful post game talk with your team to be sure they learn from their mistakes while not going negative.

Chapter 10 – Drills and Resources

We have compiled some of the best time-tested drills to help with pitching, catching, infield, outfield and of course, hitting. These drills will allow you to keep your practice moving at a quick pace and will help your players to develop their baseball fundamentals. This group of drills is used by high school and competitive baseball teams to help round out their talent set.

eBook - Rotational Hitting - Breaking it Down
Our Price:

Sparky Parker has written this terrific eBook on the often misunderstood concept of Rotational Hitting.  In his book, Sparky covers the 3 most fundamental aspects of the baseball swing, the movement of the hips, getting the bat in the plane of the pitch, and hitting with the hands inside the baseball.  A clear and concise teaching tool designed to allow any parent or coach to teach the swing fundamentals to their player.  Excellent professional player illustrations are provided as teaching examples.  Coach Parker has also written eBooks titled "How I Teach it" and "A Thinking Hitter", available through this web site.

Sparky has been coaching baseball and fastpitch on the Eastside since 1988 and has experienced  high levels of success.  In 1993, Sparky coached a Kirkland U-18 girls fastpitch team to a World Series Championship and followed up with a fourth place finish in 1999 and a 2nd place finish in 2001.  He has continued to produce quality teams and players year after year.

Coach Parker prides himself  on "always learning" and is a true  student of the game.  Coach Parker holds a Masters in Education and thoroughly understands the essence of hitting and the art of teaching.

He has been coaching for 22 years and has attended and given 100's of seminars on hitting over the years.  Here is what Sparky says about why he developed his ebook series..."Out of every clinic and seminar that I have been to, no one has ever once said "would you like to know how Edgar Swings, how about Barry, Arod or Jr".  It wasn't until I came across Mike Epstein that I truly learned what hitting really  was all about.   Life is all about choices and when it comes to hitting there are  choices, rotational and linear .  You have a choice , look  into it , educate yourself and then ...make  a choice .  It always amazes me when I hear  instructors claiming to  teach a combination  of  the two.  If  an instructor really understands the difference between the two  styles they will know that the properties that make-up the rotational  swing are polar opposites of a linear swing  on every  aspect.  In fact ,the only  similarity that the two styles may  share would be the stride to toe-touch, after that , you are either linear or rotational.   Here at ParkerTraining we teach rotational hitting 100%  and  believe  in every  ounce of the style .  We are dedicated to educate anyone that wants to learn what the best hitters in the world already know!   You have a choice, look into it and then decide what is right for you!"

Sparky is one of only two certified Epstein hitting instructors in the State of Washington and has worked with 100's of players over the years.
